Tejas Eye Hospital, Mandvi Taluka
Illuminating Lives in the Tribal Heartland
Chhanyado, in proud partnership with Divyajyoti Trust, supports and strengthens the mission of Tejas Eye Hospital in Mandvi Taluka, a deeply underserved tribal region in Gujarat.
Our Impact
Every year, over 15,000 eye surgeries are performed here, out of which 10,000+ are completely free for underprivileged patients. Through regular village-level eye camps in the tribal district of Tapi, we are working to eliminate preventable blindness and restore vision to those who need it the most.
This initiative is led by our President Shri Bharatbhai V. Shah and supported by the trustees of Surat Manav Seva Sangh Chhanyado.
Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR)
For those who are incurably blind, we go a step further.
With a dedicated team of 10 field workers, we run a CBR programme in Mandvi Taluka, supporting 115+ incurably blind individuals. Through this initiative, we focus on:
- Home-based functional rehabilitation
- Emotional and social support
- Access to community resources
- Skill-building for self-reliance.
This work is now expanding to Umarpada and Mangrol Talukas.
Residential School for Blind Children
We believe education is the right of every child, including those without sight.
Our hostel for blind children began with 14 students and now supports 20 visually impaired children, who:
- Attend regular schools alongside sighted children
- Learn Braille, computers, and music in the evenings
- Receive all necessary support to grow with confidence and dignity
These students are thriving academically and emotionally in a safe, nurturing environment.
